The short version
- ✓No data collection. Nothing you enter is sent to us or to anyone else.
- ✓No analytics, no ads, no tracking. The app contains no third-party code of any kind.
- ✓No accounts. There is nothing to sign up for and no password to remember.
- ✓Your data stays yours. It lives on your iPhone and, if you use iCloud, in your own private iCloud storage.
What the app stores
OverUnder keeps only what you type into it: your car's nickname, the lease terms (start date, length, mileage allowance, starting odometer, and the per-mile overage rate), the odometer readings you log, and, if you choose to add one, a photo of your car.
That information is stored on your iPhone. When your phone is signed in to iCloud, Apple's CloudKit service also keeps a copy in your private iCloud database so the data follows you to a new phone. That copy is tied to your Apple Account, is protected by Apple's encryption, and is not visible to us or to any other user.
What we do not do
- We run no servers for the app. There is nowhere for your data to be sent.
- We use no analytics, crash reporting, or advertising frameworks.
- We do not ask for your name, email, location, or contacts.
- We do not sell, share, or trade any information, because we never have any.
The home screen widget
The widget reads the same data the app stores on your phone so it can show your pace at a glance. It never sends anything anywhere.
Reminders
Reminders to log your mileage are optional and off by default. If you turn them on, the app asks iOS for permission to show local notifications. They are scheduled entirely on your phone; no notification service is involved.
Photos
If you add a photo of your car, the app asks for access to only the picture you pick, stores it with your other data, and shows it on the Home screen and the widget. It is never uploaded to us.
Exporting your data
Settings ▸ Export builds a CSV and a JSON file of everything the app holds and hands them to the iOS share sheet. They go only where you send them.
Deleting your data
Delete a reading or a vehicle inside the app and it is gone from your phone and, if you use iCloud, from your iCloud copy as well. Deleting the app removes everything stored on the phone.
To remove the iCloud copy without the app, open the iPhone's Settings, tap your name, then iCloud, then Manage Account Storage, find OverUnder in the list, and delete its data.
Children
OverUnder is not directed at children under 13, and since it collects no personal information it does not knowingly collect any from children.
Changes to this policy
If the app ever changes how it handles data, this page will be updated first and the date at the top will change. The current version is always at this address.
